Today at 4 pm (EDT), the MLB Network's "Prime 9" program will feature the 9 best players of the 1960s.
Some ramblings about major (and minor) league baseball in the mid-to-late 1960s, with an emphasis on my hometown Philadelphia Phillies. -- 26-SEP-2009

Well, it wasn't MLB Network's pick of the "9 greatest players", it was the "greatest player at each of the 9 positions". When I heard that at the start of the show, I figured Mickey Mantle would be left off the list (and so was Roberto Clemente).
The biggest surprise to me was that Sandy Koufax and Brooks Robinson were not among the 9 players; (and after skipping over Koufax, Bob Gibson was also not selected)!
Only 2 of the 9 were American Leaguers.
I hope Al Kaline was one of the 2 A.L. players.
Kaline is to often overlooked.
No, Kaline wasn't selected, but I think he was one of a few guys they mentioned at the top of the show as "here's some that didn't make the cut".
The batting order:
2B Pete Rose
LF Carl Yastrzemski
CF Willie Mays
RF Hank Aaron
1B Willie McCovey
3B Ron Santo
C Bill Freehan
SS Maury Wills
P Juan Marichal
